Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world and the cultural, political, and sporting capital of Mexico. A sprawling metropolis of over 21 million people, the city is defined by its history, art, cuisine, and an unwavering passion for soccer that reaches every neighbourhood and social class.

Estadio Azteca is the most storied World Cup venue in history, having hosted two Finals, in 1970 and in 1986, making it the only stadium ever to host the Final twice. Home to Club America and Cruz Azul, the Azteca holds over 87,000 fans and sits at 2,240 metres above sea level. It will host five matches during World Cup 2026, opening with the tournament's first match on June 11. The stadium is where Diego Maradona scored both the Hand of God and the Goal of the Century in 1986.
