Monterrey is Mexico's third largest city and the country's industrial and commercial powerhouse, located in the state of Nuevo Leon at the foot of the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range. Known for its strong work ethic and fierce local pride, the city is home to two of the biggest clubs in Mexican soccer and a supporter culture that is among the most intense in the country.

Estadio BBVA will host four matches during World Cup 2026. Home of CF Monterrey (Rayados), the stadium opened in 2015 and holds over 53,000 fans. Widely regarded as one of the most visually striking stadiums in Latin America, the BBVA sits against the Sierra Madre mountains, creating a backdrop found nowhere else in the tournament. Monterrey previously hosted matches during the 1970 and 1986 FIFA World Cups.
