Atlanta is the capital of Georgia and the economic and cultural hub of the southeastern United States, home to a rapidly growing and diverse population. The city is one of the most important sports markets in North America and has developed a particularly strong soccer culture since Atlanta United FC joined MLS in 2017.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host eight matches during World Cup 2026, including a semifinal on July 15. Home to the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Atlanta United FC (MLS), the stadium opened in 2017 with a retractable roof and a capacity over 71,000. Atlanta United set MLS attendance records in their inaugural season, and the stadium has become one of the premier soccer venues in the country.
